06.07.11

In the world of televisions one up and coming type of set is the 3D TV.

This is fast becoming a popular sort of TV for many consumers who want a more realistic television viewing experience. In order for these new 3D TVs to be used with other components such as Blu-Ray players, DVD players and game consoles, a connection cable must be used to link them up. For a while now, HDMI cables have been the most used choice for high definition TVs. However, this leads to the question, will a hdmi cable in fact work with the newer 3D TVs?

HDMI Cables

HDMI cables have been released as certain versions over the year. The first HDMI cable was known as 1.1. The most recent version of the HDMI cable is known as 1.4 and was released in June 2009. This version of the HDMI cable will work well with 3D televisions. This latest version of the HDMI cable was designed with several new audio, digital and internet applications in mind. These cables are able to handle 3D videos through devices such as Blu-Ray players which make it able to handle the data required to transmit 3D TV signals. What many people don’t realize is that all 3D TV consists of is 2 1080p signals running in tandem. This can be effectively handled by the HDMI cable 1.4. Some people may try to use a HDMI cable in the 1.3 version. While the specifications of this cable aren’t made to work as well with 3D TVs, it can work. However, the 3D image will be displayed at a much lower resolution which translates to a lower quality picture.

There is one consideration to make when getting HDMI cables for your 3D TV and that is the length of the HDMI cable. Given the previous example, 3D TVs need twice the amount of bandwidth. If the HDMI cable you need measures 2 meters or less you can use standard HDMI cables. However, if your system will necessitate a longer cable over 2 meters, then you need to purchase an HDMI cable that is rated high speed.

Thus you can save on electricity consumption. You may also think of installing solar pv panels to reduce energy costs.
